Overview

Access to Permit Types and permits is controlled through user permissions.

There are two key areas:

• Creating and managing Permit Types
• Creating permits for a tenant

Each permission grants access at a different level.

Creating Permit Types

To create or manage Permit Types, users must have permission to edit locations.

Users with “Can edit company”

• Can create Permit Types for all locations and tenants on a company.

? Use this for admin level management.

Users with “Can edit location”

• Can create Permit Types for their assigned location
• Can use tenants that belong to that location

? Use this when access should be limited to a specific location.

Users with “Can edit locations”

• Can create Permit Types across all locations
• Can use any tenant in the company

? Use this for admins who manage multiple locations.

Creating Permits

To control who can create permits, Permit Types use a tenant-based permission.

“Manage permits for [tenant]”

This permission allows a user to:

• Create permits for a specific tenant
• Access any Permit Type assigned to that tenant

? This replaces the need for broader registration permissions tied to tenants.

How It Works Together

• Company OR Location permissions control who can create and manage Permit Types
• Tenant permissions control who can create permits

This ensures:

• Only authorized users can configure permit rules
• Permit creation is limited to the appropriate tenants

Example

• A location manager with “Can edit location”:
  • Can create Permit Types for their location and assign them to any Tenant
  • Can create Permits on any Permit Type for their location
• A company admin with “Can edit locations”:
  • Can create Permit Types for any Location and assign them to any Tenant
  • Can create Permits on any Permit Type on the Company
• A tenant-specific user with “Manage permits for [tenant]”:
  • Can create permits for Tenant, using any Permit Type assigned to that Tenant
  • Cannot create or modify Permit Types

Summary
